London, 2011

Photography by Sarah J. Edwards, Art Direction by Sally A. Edwards

We were delighted when Slash’s publicist asked if we’d like to feature him. The interview and shoot took place in Soho, London.
I was really nervous because I was doing both the interview and shoot, I sat down opposite Slash with my laptop open. In the background, Sally was capturing some video and his team filled the rest of the room.
The interview went great and I did my best to pull his leg as respectfully as possible, since Slash seems so blasé. At the end he said ‘that was actually pretty painless, I was scared at first.’
For the photos I worked with the existing hotel lamps and directed them and used some reflection. We wanted relaxed, un-fussy photos, as many are either backstage doc or super polished.
Later, his publicist told us it was one of his favourite ever interviews and shoots.

Antique and vintage goods are both stylish and sustainable.

They have a low carbon footprint thanks to their existing lifespan and they help reduce deforestation because no trees are being cut to produce them.

They help reduce landfill because, unlike mass-produced non-recyclables, they are high quality in material and craft, and are destined to outlive most other possessions.

Everything we buy interacts with the environment. Second hand furniture and accessories are not only unique, characterful and nostalgic, but also contribute to a sustainable home.

Spotlight | BLAG

BLAG was launched as a cut and paste fanzine while twin sisters Sally A. Edwards and Sarah J. Edwards were at Art School in Lincolnshire. It was the early 90s and by using Saturday job wages, fake id, an art college library photocopier and friends with cars, an iconic magazine was in the making.
Sally studied Graphic Design, Sarah Fashion Design and she taught herself photography in her spare time.
The twins moved to London as teenagers and began modelling and careers in the music industry, using salaries to fund their fanzine.
They turned BLAG into a glossy in 1995 giving Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA one of his first international covers, soon after Questlove received his debut cover.
Sally and Sarah became popular for their uncanny knack of finding and featuring artists on the cusp of fame. BLAG has featured: OutKast, Questlove, Beastie Boys, Pharrell Williams, Amy Winehouse, James McAvoy, Nelly Furtado, Kasabian, Janelle Monáe, Cillian Murphy, Shepard Fairey and hundreds more.
