Sustainability
Antique and vintage goods are both stylish and sustainable.

They have a low carbon footprint thanks to their existing lifespan and they help reduce deforestation because no trees are being cut to produce them.

They help reduce landfill because, unlike mass-produced non-recyclables, they are high quality in material and craft, and are destined to outlive most other possessions.

Everything we buy interacts with the environment. Second hand furniture and accessories are not only unique, characterful and nostalgic, but also contribute to a sustainable home.

The Old Cinema

Spotlight | Regency Period, 1800-1830

Regency overlaps the Georgian period and has become a useful label for the first thirty years of the 19th century, when English furniture styles were emphatically classical. Greek, Roman, and even Egyptian ornaments were a source of inspiration, as was the Empire style of Napoleonic France.

A key feature of Regency furniture was the addition of brass to the wood, which became a specialist craft in London. Brass inlay is more durable than marquetry, and makes an excellent finish. Other characteristics are reeding, sabre legs and rosewood in abundance.

Notable pieces of Regency furniture include the Drum table, Canterbury, and 'Dumbwaiter'.
