Antique and vintage goods are both stylish and sustainable.

They have a low carbon footprint thanks to their existing lifespan and they help reduce deforestation because no trees are being cut to produce them.

They help reduce landfill because, unlike mass-produced non-recyclables, they are high quality in material and craft, and are destined to outlive most other possessions.

Everything we buy interacts with the environment. Second hand furniture and accessories are not only unique, characterful and nostalgic, but also contribute to a sustainable home.

Designer Spotlight | Alvar Aalto

Alvar Aalto is a Finnish architect and designer born in 1898. His work spans across both design and art disciplines and is celebrated for his modern Scandinavian style centering around local materials and functionality. In 1935 the Artek Company was established by Aino and Alvar Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl to manufacture, market and sell Aalto’s furniture, lighting, and textiles. Aalto’s most recognisable homeware designs include his minimal bentwood chairs and stools alongside his biomorphic glassware. There is an Alvar Aalto Museum in Finland, which inevitably he designed himself!
