Sustainability
Antique and vintage goods are both stylish and sustainable.

They have a low carbon footprint thanks to their existing lifespan and they help reduce deforestation because no trees are being cut to produce them.

They help reduce landfill because, unlike mass-produced non-recyclables, they are high quality in material and craft, and are destined to outlive most other possessions.

Everything we buy interacts with the environment. Second hand furniture and accessories are not only unique, characterful and nostalgic, but also contribute to a sustainable home.

Thank you for submitting your enquiry. A member of our sales team will get back to you as soon as possible

Maker Spotlight | Meredew

Beginning in East London, Meredew was founded in 1879 by Daniel Meredew who worked as a cabinet maker and carver, specialising in overmantel mirrors. Fred Hard, son of the glass supplier for the mirrors, took over the company in 1907 on Meredew’s retirement and moved the business to Hertfordshire in 1913. After the First World War the company continued to make standard domestic furniture, overmantels, dining and bedroom furniture but it was not until the 1950’s and the employment of Alphons Loebenstein, a designer and German refugee, that Meredew became hugely popular. Loebenstein persuaded Hard to leave behind traditional designs in favour of modern unit furniture. Meredew specialised in bedroom furniture often made in oak and teak with simple silhouettes raised on small feet.
